I know there was the benefit of improved science and math skills, but what I really noticed was the increased confidence and maturity….he’s much more self-assured. I know [The YM is a program that] exposes kids to new adventures and shows them they can achieve things out of their comfort zone.
If I can stop being afraid of the water and learn to swim, I can do anything!
It’s fun being the teacher, but more importantly you learn new skills and responsibilities and you gain people’s trust. I like that feeling so when I go back to school I’m going to become a tutor and help younger kids.
In a city where enrichment programs are rarely affordable for middle and lower-class families, I commend you for giving children this amazing opportunity…I am so grateful to you for inviting Brian to participate…and am proud of what a confident leader he has become.
